Artist's Comments

I drew this ages ago while I was still using Crayola. It looked really good, but it was incomplete and I got lazy. Plus, I hate Crayola with a passion! So, I scanned it and used photoshop. I spent all day working on this!

I met Ekari as a human and Saratova as a leopard during my time in Alvaria Bestonia. (Saratova was flirting with Shade) Ekari was, and is, very secretive. He keeps his face and all of his skin covered in cloth, except his eyes, which are a grayish blue. He normally looks presentable. In this picture, I used a scen when I first saw the two in their leopard forms together, while fighting a dual. They kinda saved my pathetic ass :sweatdrop: I got their colors so wrong -.-'

legend has it, Saratova was orphaned by a dark tyrant. She was raised by a talking leopard, Ekari, and then got her revenge at age 18, slaying the tyrant, but getting caught and hung. her body disapeared, and Ekari was never seen again. I thought they just copied the named of the legendary charactors...but that doesn't go with this clip from my book. cp 17 I think:

The vampire struck with a punch while I was thinking of a way to vanquish him. He stepped back before I could strike, grinning with his perfect lengthy incisors.
"What’s mister distance grinning about?"
I didn’t get a chance to answer Tarveka’s snobbish question. A sudden force hit me from behind, a pouncing hellhound who crushed me under his weight before leaping off. The hound landed not far from me, digging his massive paws into the rich and moist earth which trembled at his claws.
Before I could get up, the beast pounced again to knock me unconscious and ship me off to his master. I can’t even remember the horrors that flooded my head as I sat there without hope. The creature was in midair when something orange appeared out of no where and took it out. I got up in shock when something grabbed me desperately, the vampire! I swung my arm around instinctively and wrapped my arm around his neck, bending him backwards. With a flash, I whipped out a stake and thrust it into the vile creature’s heart.
From my side, the other hellhound was crouching, stalking foreword threateningly. Out of air came another leopard with brownish gold fur. With a simple push of his paws, the beast’s neck cracked and the hellhound died.
The other leopard rejoined him. My two companions finished off their foes and rejoined me. I stared at the two leopards, the brownished one had cloudy blue eyes. I recognized those eyes!
Could it be?
The two leopards turned into a whirlwind of blue light and transformed into two separate people. One, Ekari, and the other, a strange but oddly beautiful cat-like woman with the faintest imprints of leopard spots dotting her darkly tanned skin. Her eyes were an opaque blue. She had wild light brown hair and an agile appearance. She wore a leather tank top and skirt which she stained orange and painted swirling black designs. She had a cloak that hung from her back which was made of thin roots hand weaved and lightly coated in webs like those of a silkworm and completed with the staining of further spots on an orange dye and tied around a sparkling but non-precious gem on her chest that helped to hold the piece together. Her shoes were tight sandals made from grasses and roots and decorated with symbols and rocks.
She looked like something out of the wild with slightly clawed fingertips and pointed teeth. Her entire appearance seemed to resemble a cat, a predator fed by her needs of revenge and survival. Standing before me, next to the mysterious man we knew as Ekari, was the real Saratova in her natural form, which only meant the other guy was also the real thing, the speech worthy and wise leopard, Ekari.
I began to ask how Saratova survived and then how they transformed and if everything was true and how they got here and how they knew and what other fairytales were true, but Ekari stopped me.
“Now is not the time. More important works are flooding into place.” He scanned the audience before continuing. “I have brought friends. They are here fighting to. I was able to gather many wolves and large cats and birds of many a kind to serve the Alvarians. I have also gathered our most skilled elves, archers, and dragon monks to assist. I’ve also rallied one important guest, An Emerald Forest nymph, Kora Ninelle, who has agreed to serve.”
“But nymphs hate war!” Shade protested, getting over the situation regarding Ekari’s appearance.
“She’s part werewolf now…”Saratova answered calmly. “She has the natural instinct to kill, which I’m sure you have as well.”
Saratova winked at him flirtatiously and let Ekari continue. “Stay on the move and slay as many of the Torganese as possible. We now leave you.”
And as soon as they said it, they leapt into the dead trees and disapeared in the thick ghostly mist.
“That was weird” Shade said simply...stating the obvious as usual...
Before I could reply, Stellelena spoke up. “Well you heard him, lets keep moving!”

I still don't know ho the Hell they survived all those damn years! Freaking secretive ninja leopards!

Sometimes we can be so anxious to provide our children with what we did not get in our childhood that we might forget to give them what we did get.
